Expanding Housing Opportunities Fund

PATH supports new legislation that, if approved by voters, would create a dedicated, long-term funding stream to expand more affordable housing through the Housing Opportunities Trust Fund.

At a press conference on March 5, County Executive Ball announced a charter amendment that would use bond financing to strengthen this fund and develop more affordable housing opportunities in Howard County.

The press conference was held on a vacant property that, thanks to the Housing Opportunity Trust Fund, is being developed into a new mixed-income homeownership community.

PATH leader Laura Salganik spoke: “We’re excited because we know how deeply this is needed. A stronger Housing Opportunity Trust Fund can help us build housing, retain younger workers, retain teachers and other critical employees, and grow, ensuring a stronger economic future for our whole county.”
