Over 500 people of diverse faiths and backgrounds gathered on March 8th for our PATH Candidate Forum. It was powerful to see so many of us engage in our democracy in a meaningful way and make an impact on the issues that matter most to our communities.
Expanding Housing Opportunities Fund
PATH supports new legislation that, if approved by voters, would create a dedicated, long-term funding stream to expand more affordable housing through the Housing Opportunities Trust Fund.
Victory for Immigrant Protections: End of 287(g) Agreements
PATH and the Maryland Just Power Alliance celebrated the passage of emergency legislation on ending 287(g) agreements on Tuesday, February 17th! These harmful agreements send local police to do the work of ICE.

PATH Joins Effort to Win New Protections against ICE in Howard County
This week, PATH took part in a significant campaign to defend our immigrant community members as well as the rights of everyone in Howard County, by putting up barriers to the ICE detentions that have been terrorizing our communities.
PATH Priorities
Based on what we heard in our listening sessions, PATH is prioritizing the following issues as we hold candidates accountable and organize campaigns.
Listening Campaign Report
As part of our 2025 listening campaign, PATH listened to more than 700 people in 12 institutions—including synagogues, churches, a mosque, a school, and a union. Facilitators asked participants, “What is keeping you and your family from thriving?”
Housing Forum with Comptroller Lierman
On January 14, over 100 people packed the room for our “How Housing Policy Shapes Maryland’s Economy” event, featuring Comptroller Lierman and co-hosted by PATH (part of the Maryland Just Power Alliance), the Horizon Foundation, Bridges to Housing Stability, Columbia Housing Center, and the Howard County Housing Affordability Coalition.
Victory for Affordable Housing in Downtown Columbia
On Monday, December 1, PATH celebrated the County Council’s approval of two bills that advance a new lakefront library in downtown Columbia and 320 new mixed-income apartments, including at least 160 affordable homes.
Affordable Housing Progress in Downtown Columbia
PATH leaders spoke at a press conference on October 23 in support of County Executive Calvin Ball’s plan to facilitate the construction of over 300 new affordable homes in downtown Columbia.
Listening Campaign Launch
On Thursday night, September 18, 250 of us from PATH, AIM, and ACT gathered to publicly launch our listening campaign!
Meeting with Governor Moore on Housing
The Maryland Just Power Alliance was pleased to meet with Governor Moore on Wednesday, Sept 3 to support his “Housing Starts Here” executive order, and to plan future collaboration with his administration.

Green Buildings Victory
On Monday night, July 7, the Howard County Council voted to amend the building code to help transition buildings to clean, efficient electric energy!

Annapolis Advocacy Day: Jan 30, 2025
On Thursday, January 30, 116 of us from the Maryland Just Power Alliance (PATH, ACT, and AIM) came to Annapolis to participate in our democracy!

On Sunday, November 17th, 729 of us from PATH, ACT, and AIM gathered at St. John the Evangelist Church in Columbia for our Statewide Action for a Just Democracy!
